At the TBN Asia Conference 2023, a breakout session on interfaith collaboration was held with Tim Tan, Founder & CEO of Affordable Abodes and Dr. Umi Waheeda, Founder of Al-Ashriyyah Nurul Iman Islamic Boarding School. The conversation was moderated by Melvyn Mak, Chairman and Co-founder of TBN Asia.

The panel discussed the project between Affordable Abodes (AA) and Al-Ashriyyah Nurul Iman Islamic Boarding School (ANIIBS). AA is a social enterprise that promotes the construction of environmentally-sound, low-cost housing for the less fortunate using kenaf - a plant with an incredible range of applications. ANIIBS provides over 15,000 children with free education, accommodation, and health services. The school is entirely self-sustainable through student entrepreneurship. The school has a bakery, recycling centre, and even a hair salon that is run by students.

AA chose ANIIBS as a place to develop and utilise kenaf plants. In line with ANIIBS' goals, AA aims to create housing that is environmentally friendly and affordable, by processing the kenaf plant into the main ingredient for making bricks. Additionally, AA educates ANIIBS on the benefits of the kenaf plant in a transfer of knowledge.
